Please do not apply unless you have substantial safety management experience in crude oil, petroleum, tanker, or comparable HazMat trucking operations. General transportation or warehouse safety experience alone does not meet the requirements for this position. Position Overview Ricky Shuler Trucking, Inc. is seeking an experienced Crude Oil Trucking Safety Manager to oversee and strengthen our company-wide safety and regulatory compliance programs. RSTI operates crude oil tanker transportation throughout Texas and New Mexico. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for driver safety, DOT/FMCSA compliance, HazMat operations, training, accident and spill response, regulatory readiness, and development of a strong safety culture throughout the organization. We are looking for someone who understands the realities of 24/7 crude oil field operations and can work effectively with drivers, field supervisors, operations management, dispatch, customers, and senior leadership. Key Responsibilities Manage and continuously improve RSTI's company-wide safety program. Maintain compliance with FMCSA, DOT, PHMSA, OSHA, HazMat, and applicable state requirements . Oversee driver qualification files and DOT compliance. Monitor Hours of Service and ELD compliance. Oversee DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements, including random testing and post-accident procedures. Ensure supervisors are properly trained in reasonable suspicion requirements and procedures. Lead accident, incident, near-miss, and spill investigations. Identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Oversee crude oil spill prevention and emergency-response procedures. Ensure proper HazMat shipping, handling, loading, transportation, and unloading practices. Conduct field safety audits and ride-alongs. Monitor driver behavior and camera/telematics safety data. Develop corrective-action and coaching programs for drivers with identified safety risks. Conduct and oversee new-driver safety orientation. Maintain ongoing driver safety and refresher training. Work closely with Operations and Dispatch without compromising safety or regulatory requirements. Track safety KPIs and provide regular reporting to executive management. Maintain readiness for DOT audits and customer safety audits. Ensure company policies remain current with regulatory and customer requirements. Investigate customer safety complaints and field incidents. Establish accountability for safety performance at the driver, supervisor, and management levels. Required Qualifications 10+ years of trucking safety experience strongly preferred. Direct crude oil, petroleum tanker, or closely related HazMat transportation safety experience required. Strong working knowledge of FMCSA/DOT regulations. Strong understanding of tanker and HazMat operations. Experience with driver qualification and compliance programs. Experience managing DOT drug and alcohol programs. Experience investigating commercial motor vehicle accidents and incidents. Knowledge of Hours of Service and electronic logging systems. Experience developing and conducting driver safety training. OSHA 30 certification required or ability to obtain promptly. Strong leadership, documentation, investigation, and communication skills. Ability to travel to RSTI field locations as required.
