Job Summary We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Crate Builder to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating primarily wooden shipping crates and pallets used to safely package and transport cylinders, parts, tools, and other products. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience working with hand and power tools, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints to build packaging that meets customer specifications. This position requires someone who takes pride in quality craftsmanship, works efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and is willing to assist with other shop duties as needed. Responsibilities Crate & Pallet Fabrication: Build and assemble wooden shipping crates and pallets to safely package and transport cylinders, parts, tools, and other products. Equipment Operation: Safely operate woodworking equipment, including table saws, miter saws, circular saws, pneumatic staplers/nailers, and various hand tools. Custom Fabrication: Construct shipping crates ranging in size from small, hand-held packages to large shipping container-sized crates. Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and customer specifications to ensure packaging meets required dimensions and shipping requirements. Material Handling: Lift, move, and position lumber and other materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Equipment Maintenance: Perform periodic maintenance and basic upkeep of wood shop equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. General Shop Support: Assist with other shop duties and responsibilities as needed to support daily operations. Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience. Experience with woodworking, carpentry, crate building, or general fabrication is preferred. Ability to safely operate power tools, pneumatic equipment, and common hand tools. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, measurements, and specifications. Strong mechanical aptitude and basic math skills, including the ability to accurately measure and calculate dimensions. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity in a fast-paced environment. Dependable, self-motivated, and demonstrates a strong work ethic. Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, when business needs require.
