Responsibilities Safely operate a variety of commercial vehicles including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers to deliver freight across designated routes. Plan delivery routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize efficiency and meet delivery schedules. Load and unload cargo with manual handling techniques, ensuring proper securing of hazardous materials and dangerous goods in compliance with Hazardous Materials Regulations. Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, pickups, and vehicle logs in accordance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles to ensure compliance with safety standards and identify maintenance needs. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route progress, delays, or issues encountered during deliveries. Handle freight securely during transport, including refrigerated goods requiring temperature control, while adhering to all safety protocols for hazardous materials. Requirements Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for tractor-trailer or specialized vehicle operation. Proven experience in delivery driving or truck driving within logistics cargo handling environments. Familiarity with over-the-road (OTR) driving routes and route driving best practices. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, Hazardous Materials Regulations, and Hazardous Materials handling procedures. Proficiency in GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time adjustments. Ability to load & unload freight manually or using equipment such as forklifts when necessary. Experience operating manual transmission trucks preferred but not required; training provided if necessary. Strong understanding of truck loading/unloading procedures including flatbed or tanker operations if applicable.
