ROLE OVERVIEW Astrodyne TDI is seeking a proactive and inquisitive Cost Accountant to support product costing, inventory analysis, and manufacturing variance reporting across a multi-entity environment. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role will maintain and improve standard costing methodologies, analyze purchase price and manufacturing variances, support month-end close, and serve as a trusted financial partner to operations. The position is based onsite in Hackettstown, New Jersey, with relocation assistance available. Employment sponsorship is not available. WHAT YOU WILL OWN Deliver accurate and timely reporting for purchase price variance, manufacturing variances, inventory adjustments, and scrap during weekly and month-end close activities. Maintain, evaluate, and improve standard costing methodologies as manufacturing processes, labor requirements, materials, and product lines evolve. Analyze purchase price and manufacturing variances, identify root causes, and partner with Supply Chain and Operations to implement corrective actions. Support inventory analysis, inventory movements, cycle counts, scrap management, and compliance with corporate inventory policies and controls. Work closely with plant and logistics teams, spending approximately half of your time in the manufacturing environment to understand products and processes. Serve as a subject-matter resource within Epicor ERP for product costing and support cost accounting activities across global locations. Communicate financial findings clearly to non-financial partners and translate analysis into practical business recommendations. Contribute to special projects, process improvements, and the continued development of the cost accounting function as the company grows. WHAT YOU BRING - REQUIREMENTS At least 3 years of cost accounting experience in a multi-entity manufacturing environment. Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred; directly relevant manufacturing cost accounting experience will also be considered. Working knowledge of standard costing, actual costing concepts, purchase price variance, manufacturing variances, inventory, and month-end close. Experience partnering with operations, supply chain, logistics, and manufacturing teams. Comfort working hands-on in a plant environment and developing a practical understanding of products, parts, labor, and production processes Experience using ERP systems for costing and inventory. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders. Self-starter mindset with strong analytical skills, curiosity, energy, and a collaborative approach. PREFERRED BACKGROUND Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation.
