Position Summary
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the efficient movement of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods throughout the supply chain to support production and customer service requirements. This role ensures that customer orders are delivered accurately and on time while optimizing transportation costs, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements.
The Logistics Coordinator serves as a key liaison between Production, Warehousing, Customer Service, Procurement, Quality Assurance, and external transportation providers to ensure uninterrupted operations and exceptional customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities

Transportation & Freight Management
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments through approved transportation carriers.
- Schedule and monitor deliveries to customers, distributors, and third-party warehouses.
- Obtain freight quotes and support cost-effective transportation decisions.
- Track shipments and proactively resolve transportation delays, shortages, damages, and service issues.
- Maintain carrier relationships and monitor performance against service expectations.
- Ensure required shipping documentation is accurate and complete.
Order & Customer Fulfillment
- Coordinate customer orders to ensure on-time, in-full (OTIF) delivery.
- Review daily order requirements and communicate priorities to warehouse and production teams.
- Collaborate with Customer Service to manage customer expectations regarding delivery timelines.
- Monitor inventory availability and identify potential supply constraints.
- Resolve order discrepancies and customer shipment issues.
Inventory & Warehouse Coordination
- Monitor inventory levels of finished goods, packaging materials, and ingredients.
- Support inventory accuracy through transaction verification and reconciliation activities.
- Coordinate product transfers between warehouses and external storage facilities.
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory investigations.
- Work closely with warehouse personnel to ensure efficient product flow and storage utilization.
Production & Supply Chain Coordination
- Collaborate with Production Planning to ensure product availability aligns with shipment schedules.
- Communicate supply chain risks, shortages, and transportation concerns to stakeholders.
- Support scheduling activities to balance customer requirements and operational capacity.
- Assist with supply chain projects focused on continuous improvement and cost reduction.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure shipping documentation complies with regulatory, food safety, and customer requirements.
- Maintain records including bills of lading, customs documentation (if applicable), temperature records, and carrier documentation.
- Support traceability and product recall requirements.
- Adhere to all food safety, quality, health and safety, and company policies.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Prepare logistics reports and performance metrics.
- Analyze transportation costs and identify opportunities for savings.
- Monitor KPIs such as:
- On-Time Delivery
- Freight Cost per Kilogram
- Carrier Performance
- Inventory Accuracy
- Order Fill Rate
- Customer Service Levels
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles and root-cause problem solving.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Supply Chain Canada (SCMP) designation is considered an asset.
- 2-5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, warehousing, or customer fulfillment.
- Experience in a food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods environment is preferred.
- Experience working with ERP systems and inventory management software.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Sage, or similar.
- Understanding of transportation management and inventory control principles.
- Knowledge of food manufacturing supply chains and cold-chain logistics is an asset.
Physical & Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based with regular interaction in warehouse and production environments.
- Occasional exposure to refrigerated production and warehouse areas.
- Ability to move throughout a manufacturing facility safely.
- May require occasional flexibility in working hours to support transportation or customer requirements.
