SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Dray containers and chassis to and from assigned work locations based on operational requirements and needs. Execute the drayage and bracing/unbracing for intra-yard operations, including but not limited to intermodal, government agency exams, CFS, PWCS, refrigerated cargo, housekeeping, fumigation, and any other on terminal needs. Manage and maintain NCSPA Chassis yard handling inventory in the best practice approach to maximize capacity and efficiency. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Respond promptly to U.S. Customs requests by draying designated containers to appropriate areas for VACIS examinations using gamma ray technology. Dray containers to and from the Port of Wilmington Cold Storage, fumigation areas, rail locations, and other designated operational areas as needed while ensuring all proper procedures are followed. Safely maneuver and back trucks and chassis into loading docks and designated areas for operations. Perform rail operations, including safely locking and unlocking containers. Operate power steam cleaning equipment to thoroughly clean containers, chassis, equipment, and vehicles. Maintain the chassis yard by ensuring equipment is properly organized and the area remains free of hazards and debris. Coordinate the movement and tracking of chassis, including storage, repaired, out-of-service, and off-hire units, while ensuring proper CMC tagging procedures are followed. Perform weekly chassis inventory counts, including damaged and repaired units. Communicate dray-out stacks and de-coops to gate coordinators and management. Perform all other duties as assigned by management. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Highschool diploma or equivalent is required Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to operate forklift and yard hustler Must be adaptable to changing environments and detail oriented Excellent customer service and basic computer skills are necessary TOS knowledge is preferred Dependability and punctuality are required Must follow safety rules and requirements Must be comfortable coordinating multiple tasks simultaneously Must have a valid driver’s license and meet TWIC security requirements WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT: Frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil and varying hot and cold weather conditions. Must be able to climb on/off equipment and lift up to 50lbs. Must follow all safety rules and requirements, operate equipment in a safe manner, and be physically capable of performing all assigned tasks. Extensive periods of walking and standing on hard surfaces required throughout the day. Overtime may be required as needed.
