Construction Purchasing Agent

Summary/Objective: The Purchasing Agent will oversee the procurement and distribution of the organization’s construction equipment, supplies, and services. Purchasing Agent is also responsible for securing (3) bids per house plan from each trade, as well as creating/managing the Scope of Work for each trade. Purchasing Agent shall manage the bid process, and work closely with the Construction department to ensure materials are ordered and received on time, and at the best available price. The Purchasing Agent also provides support to SVP in securing permits for new construction projects. This could include gaining or sharing information for new projects with SVP, our Permit Service Provider, or County/City municipalities as needed. Essential Functions: Support the safety practices of the affiliate. Coordinate with Field Staff and SVP/VP of Construction to create material delivery schedules on project management software. Procurement of materials, supplies and sub-contractors in compliance with the Purchasing Policies and Procedures of the Affiliate as directed by the SVP/VP of Construction. Review Monthly cost comparisons for suppliers/trade partners. Secure 3 bids per trade on all house plans to ensure competitive pricing. Establish and manage estimating templates. Attend scheduled meetings with the Construction Staff and SVP/VP of Construction. Maintain Construction Master agreements with subcontractors. Coordinate with the Operations Support Analyst to ensure sub-contractors have the appropriate insurances to secure the organization and maintain compliance with subcontractor insurance coverage in construction management software. Issue Purchase Orders and manage material delivery with Site Foreman and Trade Partners. Work closely with SVP/VP of Construction to review trade partner performance. Analyze supply chain and make recommendations and/or policy for lead time ordering and cutoff times. Provide support for attaining permits for new projects. Attend meetings required by the affiliate.
