Role Description The Construction Materials Testing Manager is a full-time, role based in Troy, MI, with some flexibility for work from home. This role oversees construction materials testing operations, including scheduling and managing field and laboratory testing activities, such as concrete, soils, asphalt, and aggregate testing. The manager supervises and mentors testing staff, reviews and approves test reports, and ensures that all testing procedures comply with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating with project managers and clients, developing test strategies and plans for projects, resolving technical issues, and supporting quality assurance and quality control processes. The role also involves maintaining equipment and certifications, contributing to continuous improvement of testing practices, and supporting business development through responsive client service. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong skills in Testing and Test Execution for construction materials in both field and laboratory environments. Candidates should possess skills in Test Management and Test Strategy to plan, coordinate, and oversee testing programs across multiple projects. Candidates should possess skills in designing, documenting, and reviewing Test Cases to ensure materials testing meets project and code requirements. Experience in construction materials testing (e.g., concrete, soils, asphalt, aggregates) and familiarity with relevant ASTM, AASHTO, and local standards. Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a testing or engineering environment, with the ability to coach and develop technical staff. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills, with attention to detail and commitment to data integrity and safety. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with clients, contractors, and internal project teams. Relevant certifications (such as ACI, NICET, or equivalent) and a degree or diploma in civil engineering, construction technology, or a related field are preferred.
