Construction Materials & Purchasing Coordinator Pay: $24.00–$26.00 per hour Job Type: Full-Time Work Location: In Person Position Summary We are a large commercial drywall contractor seeking a dependable, organized and hands-on Construction Materials & Purchasing Coordinator to support our purchasing, warehouse and field operations. This is a great opportunity for someone who has experience with construction materials, building supply, warehouse operations, purchasing, shipping/receiving, or construction logistics and is looking for a position with a variety of responsibilities. This is not strictly a desk purchasing position . The successful candidate will work with our Project Managers, Estimators, field personnel, suppliers and warehouse operations to make sure the correct materials are purchased, received, organized and delivered where they are needed. Key Responsibilities Obtain material pricing and quotes from suppliers and vendors. Prepare and process material purchase orders. Order materials for commercial drywall projects. Coordinate material orders and deliveries with Project Managers and field personnel. Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times and deliveries. Receive incoming material shipments and verify quantities and condition. Maintain organized purchasing, receiving and material records. Assist with warehouse organization and inventory control. Monitor commonly used materials and supplies and assist with maintaining appropriate inventory levels. Operate a forklift to load, unload and organize materials. Assist with loading and unloading delivery vehicles. Make occasional material and equipment deliveries to local jobsites. Track outstanding orders and follow up on delayed or missing materials. Help resolve material shortages, damaged shipments and order discrepancies. Assist Project Managers and Estimators with material pricing and availability. Maintain accurate vendor and material information in company computer systems. Assist with other purchasing, warehouse and construction operations responsibilities as needed. Qualifications Experience in construction, building materials, purchasing, warehouse operations, shipping/receiving or a related field is preferred. Commercial drywall or construction-material experience is a plus but not required . Comfortable working both in an office environment and a warehouse. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel. Ability to communicate professionally with suppliers, Project Managers and field personnel. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize multiple requests and follow through to completion. Ability to safely operate a forklift or willingness to be trained. Ability to safely lift and handle construction materials as required. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required. Dependable, punctual and able to work independently. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys a position with variety . You may spend part of the day obtaining material quotes and entering purchase orders, another part receiving a supplier delivery, and later coordinating or delivering materials needed for a jobsite. Candidates with backgrounds in building-material supply houses, lumberyards, drywall suppliers, construction warehouses, contractor purchasing departments, shipping/receiving, or construction logistics are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of drywall materials such as gypsum board, metal framing, insulation, fasteners, finishing products and related commercial construction materials is especially valuable.
