Reiss Structural and Architectural Products, LLC is a metal fabrication firm that is expanding its reach in providing general contracting across the U.S. and we are ready to hire a traveling assistant construction manager to provide on-site support at jobsites. The assistant construction manager supports project planning, ensures safety and quality compliance, manages project materials, and assists in budget and schedule oversight. This is a traveling position based in Indianapolis, IN. Per diem and lodging will be provided when not assigned to Indianapolis. Anticipated travel is between 60-95%. Supervision and Leadership: The assistant construction manager coordinates with the Reiss field superintendent and subcontractors, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely. They provide guidance, coaching, and represent the company on-site, often performing hands-on construction tasks themselves while tracking project progress. Project Management Support: They assist the project manager in planning, scheduling, and monitoring project progress. This includes preparing daily reports, tracking construction progress, and ensuring adherence to project plans and specifications. They may also help draft Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposal (RFP), and bid analyses to support competitive bidding. Safety and Quality: Ensuring compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations is a key responsibility. This position monitors on-site safety, enforces protocols, and inspects work to confirm it meets building codes and quality standards. The successful candidate will be trained on Reiss quality standards and applicable building codes. Materials and Equipment Management: They coordinate the procurement, delivery, and proper use of construction materials and equipment for the project. This includes collaboratively working with the field superintendent in sourcing tools, equipment, and supplies, and confirming equipment is maintained. Administrative and Technical Tasks: Duties include preparing material orders, progress reports, and assisting with contract administration. Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs is a must. The ability to read drawings is required. The ability to use software programs like Revit/AutoCAD is not required, but desired. The ability to track and assess project quality and compliance is critical. Communication and Coordination: The assistant construction manager represents the company on site. The ability to professionally liaise with contractors, engineers, regulatory agencies, and clients is required. The assistant construction manager is required to participate in running pre-construction meetings, weekly progress meetings, and alert the company of any issues to ensure smooth project execution and stakeholder engagement. Physical and On-Site Requirements: The role requires physical activity, including lifting, climbing, and working in varying weather conditions. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of basic construction hand tools, and the aptitude and wiliness to learn trade specific equipment, processes, and techniques. Skills and Qualifications Knowledge of construction processes, inspection practices, and safety regulations Ability to manage multiple tasks, problem-solve, and work collaboratively Proficiency in Microsoft Office Strong communication, team, and organizational skills Relevant education or experience in construction management, civil engineering, or related fields OSHA 10 Certification Valid driver's license. Candidates will be required to obtain their for-hire license within 90 days. Ability to learn trade specific equipment, processes, and techniques through on the job training.
