Construction Estimating / Project Management Intern

Baltimore / DMV Area Pay: $20–$23 per hour Schedule: Part-time / Internship Experience Level: Student, Recent Graduate, or Entry Level About Hansy Engineering Hansy Engineering Inc. is a growing construction and engineering company serving the Baltimore–Washington metropolitan area. We work across commercial and residential construction, renovation, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and engineering-related projects. We are currently looking for a Construction Estimating / Project Management Intern who is interested in learning how construction projects are priced, proposed, contracted, and prepared before construction begins. This position will work closely with company leadership and our preconstruction/project management team. What You Will Learn This internship provides hands-on exposure to: Construction estimating Quantity takeoffs Reading construction drawings Material pricing Labor estimating Subcontractor pricing Proposal preparation Scope of work development Bid comparison Change orders Project budgeting Procurement Project coordination You will see how a project develops from an initial drawing or customer request into an estimate, proposal, contract, budget, and active construction project. Responsibilities Depending on experience and training, responsibilities may include: Reviewing architectural and engineering drawings Performing basic quantity takeoffs Organizing material and labor quantities Requesting pricing from suppliers and subcontractors Comparing vendor and subcontractor quotes Assisting with construction estimates Preparing estimate spreadsheets Formatting proposals and scopes of work Maintaining bid and estimating files Updating project cost information Assisting with change-order pricing Researching materials and equipment Supporting project managers with procurement and project coordination Maintaining organized records of current and past estimates Ideal Candidate We are especially interested in current students or recent graduates studying: Construction Management Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Architecture Engineering Technology Related construction or engineering fields Qualifications Strong attention to detail Comfortable working with numbers and spreadsheets Basic Microsoft Excel skills Willingness to learn how to read construction drawings Good communication skills Ability to stay organized across multiple projects Strong follow-through Interest in construction, estimating, engineering, or project management Experience with the following is preferred but not required : Bluebeam AutoCAD Revit Plan reading Quantity takeoffs Construction estimating software Excel estimating templates We are willing to train the right candidate. Career Development This position is designed as more than a short-term internship. Strong performers may have the opportunity to grow into positions such as: Estimating Intern → Junior Estimator → Estimator / Assistant Project Manager → Project Manager You will work directly with experienced construction professionals and gain exposure to real projects rather than only classroom exercises. Compensation $20–$23/hour , depending on experience. Flexible scheduling may be available for current college students. Candidates who perform well may be considered for expanded hours or a permanent position as Hansy Engineering continues to grow.
