Company Manager / Assistant Technical Director

Reports to: Artistic Director Works in close collaboration with: Production Manager and Technical Director Position Summary The Company Manager / Assistant Technical Director supports both the artistic company and the technical production department to ensure the successful delivery of all YES Theatre productions, programming, rentals, and ancillary events. This position serves as the primary coordinator of artist services while also assisting the Technical Director in the planning, execution, and operation of the organization's technical activities. Working collaboratively across departments, the role helps ensure artists are well supported, productions are technically prepared, and organizational resources are effectively coordinated. The position requires a highly organized, collaborative, and adaptable individual who is equally comfortable supporting artists, coordinating logistics, and participating in hands-on technical production work. Responsibilities The Company Manager / Assistant Technical Director is accountable for: Artist Services & Company Experience Technical Production Support Technical Operations & Asset Management Company Logistics & Administration Health & Safety Organizational Collaboration DutiesArtist Services & Company Experience Serve as the primary point of contact for guest artists, designers, directors, musicians, stage managers, and contracted personnel throughout their engagement with YES Theatre. Coordinate artist onboarding, orientation, and offboarding. Prepare artist contracts and maintain engagement records in collaboration with the Artistic Director. Coordinate travel, accommodations, transportation, hospitality, and other artist logistics. Support payroll administration by collecting required employment documentation, timesheets, and payroll information. Respond to artist questions and day-to-day needs while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Coordinate welcome packages, company information, and artist resources. Support accessibility and accommodation requirements for artists and staff. Foster an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming company culture. Technical Production Support Assist the Technical Director with the planning and execution of technical elements for productions and events. Participate in scenic construction, installation, technical rehearsals, strikes, and restoration activities. Assist in preparing AutoCAD drawings, construction drawings, production paperwork, and technical documentation as required. Coordinate procurement and transportation of production materials and equipment. Assist in supervising overhire crews, volunteers, apprentices, and contractors as delegated by the Technical Director. Participate in the installation and operation of scenic, lighting, sound, video, projection, and rigging systems. Assist with technical troubleshooting during rehearsals and performances. Support technical requirements for rentals and third-party events. Technical Operations & Asset Management Assist in maintaining accurate inventories of technical equipment, scenic assets, tools, and production supplies. Help coordinate preventative maintenance schedules for technical equipment and facilities. Organize technical storage areas, workshops, backstage spaces, and production work areas. Track consumable inventory and recommend replenishment when required. Assist with equipment maintenance, repairs, and venue changeovers. Ensure technical documentation and inventory records remain current. Company Logistics & Administration Maintain artist databases, contracts, production records, and company documentation. Coordinate purchasing, reimbursements, and administrative support related to artist services and production activities. Support scheduling of artist arrivals, housing, transportation, and company events. Assist with grant reporting, production archives, and organizational documentation as assigned.
