In this role, you will be responsible for safely transporting freight, equipment, and cargo across various routes, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism. Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or refrigerated trailers across over-the-road (OTR) routes, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Plan and follow efficient routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times and fuel consumption. Load and unload freight or cargo with proper manual handling techniques, ensuring secure transportation of hazardous materials or dangerous goods when applicable. Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure compliance with safety standards; perform routine maintenance checks and report any issues promptly. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and cargo documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or potential delays. Ensure proper handling of specialized cargo such as refrigerated goods, hazardous materials, or oversized loads like flatbed or tanker shipments. Requirements Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for tractor-trailer operation; experience with manual transmission preferred. Proven experience in delivery driving, truck loading/unloading, and route driving within a logistics environment. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazardous materials regulations, DOT rules, and safety protocols for transporting dangerous goods. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning for over-the-road (OTR) driving routes. Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely when loading or unloading freight; physical stamina to handle long hours on the road. Strong understanding of truck driving best practices including vehicle inspection, safety procedures, and cargo securement.
