Job Description: The Community Integration Specialist is responsible for assisting the Program of Initial Resettlement (PIR) team with pre-arrival planning including identifying appropriate housing, conducting home suitability checks, arranging the procurement of household goods such as beds, futons, draperies and other home items, and home set up utilizing a corps of volunteers secured by our Community Engagement Manager. The Community Integration Specialist also assists with limited resettlement and integration case management tasks, including airport pickups. This position works closely with the Program Manager and the Community Engagement Manager to ensure timely, fluid communication with those involved in the housing process. The Community Integration Specialist also coordinates volunteer and intern tasks working with JERS staff members in the CIS department. Primary Responsibilities: Identify appropriate housing, works with landlords to finalize rental. Work with case managers and landlords to arrange rent payments Assist with securing temporary housing when permanent housing is not available to new arrivals Source all required household items for apartment set up through purchase or minimal donation Coordinate apartment setups with Community Outreach Manager to ensure volunteers are available to clean and furnish the home Arranges professional apartment cleanings if necessary Be on site during apartment set ups to ensure set up is done correctly and be available to handle concerns or questions that arise. Comply with program requirements including case notes, PIR housing forms, check requests, inspections, and landlord statements Communicate with utility providers to activate utilities and ensure working appliances Works with case managers and outreach department to coordinate tasks for on-site interns and volunteers, providing guidance and support when needed. Provides case management assistance for PIR and integration programming. Assists with airport pick ups Qualifications: Requires access to a safe, licensed vehicle and clean driving record Ability to lift and carry up to fifty pounds Friendly demeanor and calm disposition Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to communicate with landlords, providers, and JERS staff in timely, professional, assertive manner Ability to drive a van or rental van for moving items Organization and time-management skills, including attention to detail and task follow-through Excellent verbal & written documentation skills for communicating with volunteers, and for maintaining accurate and up-to date case notes and financial records. Strong computer skills, including databases and Microsoft Office Suite Self-direction and ability to work in a team environment Some night and weekend hours required
