Commercial Manager
CPTIWe're a seed-stage stealth hardware startup based in the Bay Area building a new source of power for frontier applications, from robotics and connected edge devices to the built environment. Our technology turns everyday surfaces into power sources. We are a small, focused team: an exited founder, NASA engineers, and materials scientists who have spent their careers turning emerging technology into products and scaling the operations behind them. Our first products are already in customers' hands. Who we hire Most of what we do has not been done before. The people who do well here have built something first of its kind, solved a problem others gave up on, or have patents, publications, or shipped products they can point to. They hold a high standard for their own work and expect it from the people around them. The role We're hiring a Commercial Manager to push our existing products as far as they can go. You'll be responsible for landing new verticals, building our distributor and channel relationships, and running the go-to-market experiments (new segments, messaging, channels, and campaigns) that show us where to push next. This is a revenue role: you'll carry a target for standard-product, channel, and new-vertical sales, and close those orders yourself. You'll sell our standard panels directly to device makers and through distributors and online channels. What you'll do Direct & channel sales: Sell our standard panels directly to device makers, and through distributors and online channels for smaller-volume buyers. New verticals: Identify, test, and land customers in verticals we don't yet serve, starting with the products we already make, and manage that pipeline by volume and fit. Distributors & channels: Recruit and manage distributors, resellers, and channel partners, and grow sales through our existing online listings. Digital advertising & GTM experiments: Design and run experiments on new segments, messaging, channels, and campaigns; measure the results and scale what works. Cold outreach: Run outbound prospecting by email, LinkedIn, and phone. Events: Work the conference program, and turn show contacts in your verticals and channels into qualified opportunities. CRM & forecasting: Keep the CRM current against our pipeline stages, and report pipeline, forecast, and experiment results weekly. What you'll bring 5+ years selling a physical product, whether components, accessories, or modules, to device makers directly or through distributors and channel partners, with a record of meeting (or exceeding) revenue targets. Experimentation: Comfortable designing, running, and measuring GTM experiments, from segment tests to campaigns. Commercial skills: Experience preparing quotations and negotiating supply terms, including pricing, MOQs, lead times, and warranties. Channel management: Experience recruiting and managing distributors, resellers, or channel partners. Communication: Clear written and verbal updates to customers and internal teams; comfort with engineering, product, and procurement audiences. Ability to travel up to 20%, including to Asia. Bachelor's, in STEM preferred Strong signals Energy harvesting, power management, battery, or photovoltaics background. Technical fluency - comfortable discussing power budgets, voltage and current, and battery charging with hardware engineers. Working relationships with device makers, distributors, or channel partners in consumer electronics or IoT. Mandarin, Japanese, or Korean language ability. Experience building a sales process and sales materials at an early-stage hardware company. Hands-on experience running cold outbound and paid digital campaigns (LinkedIn, Google, or Meta) for a B2B or hardware product.
