Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, on OTR routes across multiple states. Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo is secured according to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations. Navigate routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times and maintain accurate delivery schedules. Transport hazardous materials and dangerous goods following all hazardous materials regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking for mechanical issues, tire pressure, brakes, lights, and load security. Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance in compliance with FMCSA regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding route changes, delivery updates, or safety concerns during transit. Skills Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on freight delivery across long distances (OTR routes). Knowledge of truck loading/unloading procedures, cargo handling logistics, and securing loads for transport. Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and automobile transportation equipment. Skilled in using GPS navigation tools for efficient route planning and execution. Understanding of DOT regulations, FMCSA guidelines, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for transporting dangerous goods. Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently while adhering to safety standards.
