Responsibilities Safely operate commercial trucks with manual or automatic transmissions across over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo safety and security during transit. Transport various types of freight including refrigerated goods, hazardous materials (hazmat), dangerous goods, and other specialized cargo such as flatbed or tanker loads. Use GPS navigation systems to plan optimal routes, monitor progress, and adjust routes as needed for efficiency. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking for hazards related to hazardous materials regulations. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and cargo handling records in compliance with FMCSA regulations. Collaborate with logistics teams to coordinate deliveries, manage freight documentation, and ensure timely deliveries at multiple destinations. Skills Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a valid CDL A license. Strong knowledge of truck loading and unloading procedures, including freight handling for refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and other specialized equipment. Familiarity with route driving using GPS navigation tools for efficient delivery planning. Ability to safely transport hazardous materials in accordance with hazardous materials regulations. Experience with delivery driving involving manual transmission trucks and tractor-trailers. Knowledge of DOT regulations related to driver hours of service, load securement, and safety protocols.
