Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and experienced Commercial Driver's License (CDL) A Truck Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating tractor-trailers across various routes, including over-the-road (OTR) driving, to deliver freight efficiently and reliably. You will handle a variety of cargo types, including refrigerated goods, hazardous materials, and specialty loads such as flatbeds and tankers. Your expertise in logistics cargo handling, adherence to safety regulations, and commitment to excellent delivery service will ensure our customers receive their shipments on time while maintaining the highest safety standards. Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailers on diverse routes, including OTR driving routes, ensuring compliance with all DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations. Manage the loading and unloading of freight, including manual handling of cargo and securing loads in accordance with safety protocols. Navigate using GPS systems accurately to reach delivery destinations efficiently while adjusting routes as needed for traffic or road conditions. Transport a variety of cargo types such as refrigerated goods, hazardous materials (hazmat), dangerous goods, flatbed loads, and tanker shipments. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT regulations; report any mechanical issues promptly. Load and unload freight with attention to proper handling procedures for different cargo types, ensuring damage-free deliveries. Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, delivery records, and cargo documentation in accordance with DOT regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or unforeseen delays to optimize efficiency. Skills Valid CDL A license with clean driving record; experience with tractor-trailer operations and one year port experience. Proficiency in driving manual transmission trucks and operating various trailer types such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and specialized equipment. Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT requirements, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for commercial truck driving. Experience with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time adjustments during deliveries. Skilled in logistics cargo handling including load & unload procedures for freight of varying sizes and weights. Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, manual handling techniques, and hazard awareness during transportation. Ability to manage long-distance routes confidently while adhering to hours-of-service regulations. Strong communication skills for coordinating deliveries and reporting issues effectively.
