Job Overview As a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) A Truck Driver, you’ll move freight safely and reliably using a tractor-trailer across local and over-the-road (OTR) routes. Depending on the load and equipment, you may transport goods in a refrigerated trailer, flatbed, tanker, or automobile transportation setup. You’ll plan routes with GPS navigation, follow delivery schedules, and protect cargo from pickup through delivery. Responsibilities Operate commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers, with manual or automatic transmissions, following assigned route plans. Inspect vehicles and secure freight before departure; load and unload cargo when required, using safe manual handling practices. Complete delivery driving tasks, confirm deliveries, and communicate route or shipment issues promptly. Follow Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, as well as applicable hazardous materials and dangerous goods requirements. Your impact: Safe driving and careful cargo handling help customers receive freight on time and in good condition. Skills Required: Valid CDL A and a safe driving record; ability to operate commercial trucks and perform required loading, unloading, and cargo securement. Familiarity with commercial driving, truck driving, delivery driving, route driving, freight, and logistics cargo handling. Knowledge of FMCSA and DOT rules; Hazmat (hazardous materials) qualifications are needed when assigned loads require them. Experience with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or automobile transportation is useful; equipment needs vary by route. Delivery driver experience and OTR driving experience are preferred.
