Responsibilities Safely operate commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and other specialized vehicles on over-the-road (OTR) routes. Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts, ensuring proper cargo securing and compliance with safety standards. Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) guidelines. Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods following all hazardous materials regulations and safety protocols. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and vehicle inspections in compliance with DOT regulations. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, including checking for mechanical issues, tire conditions, and proper functioning of safety equipment. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or any issues encountered during transit. Qualifications Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record. Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or dump trucks. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for truck loading/unloading. Experience with GPS navigation systems and route planning for efficient deliveries. Ability to manually handle cargo safely using appropriate equipment like forklifts when necessary. Familiarity with logistics cargo handling procedures for freight transportation across diverse vehicle types. Strong understanding of truck loading/unloading processes and securing loads properly for safe transit. Preferred Skills & Certifications Experience with automobile transportation or specialized trucking such as roll-off trucks or tanker operations. Hazmat certification or endorsement on CDL license. Manual transmission operation skills. Familiarity with dangerous goods handling protocols. Experience operating various truck types including flatbed or tanker trucks.
