Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, on over-the-road (OTR) routes to deliver freight across multiple locations. Navigate using GPS systems, ensuring timely and efficient route planning while complying with DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations. Load and unload freight manually or with equipment, ensuring proper handling of hazardous materials and dangerous goods in accordance with hazardous materials regulations. Manage the transportation of automobile parts or vehicles when required, utilizing appropriate securement techniques for safe transit. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and cargo to identify maintenance needs or safety issues. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and cargo documentation as mandated by DOT regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding route updates, delivery schedules, or any issues encountered during transit. Requirements Valid CDL A license with clean driving record; experience operating tractor-trailers with manual transmissions preferred. Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including freight delivery and route driving. Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tankers, and hazardous materials handling is highly desirable. Knowledge of GPS navigation systems and logistics cargo handling procedures. Ability to load and unload freight safely using manual handling techniques or mechanical aids. Understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT requirements, and hazardous materials regulations to ensure compliance at all times. Strong driving skills with a focus on safety, punctuality, and customer service.
