Duties Safely operate tractor-trailers, including flatbed, tanker, and refrigerated trailers, on over-the-road (OTR) routes across different states or regions. Navigate using GPS systems to ensure efficient and timely deliveries while maintaining compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques, ensuring proper securing of cargo such as hazardous materials or dangerous goods according to hazardous materials regulations. Deliver freight accurately to designated locations, verifying delivery details and obtaining signatures or electronic proof of delivery. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks to identify maintenance needs or safety issues, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations. Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, and inspection reports in accordance with DOT regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any route or cargo issues promptly. Qualifications Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record, demonstrating experience in commercial truck driving. Proven experience in delivery driving, freight transportation, or logistics cargo handling. Knowledge of refrigerated trailer operations, hazardous materials regulations, and dangerous goods handling is highly preferred. Ability to operate manual transmission trucks and handle manual loading/unloading processes efficiently. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning for over-the-road routes. Strong understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and hazardous materials regulations. Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, compliance, and customer service excellence. Physical ability to perform manual handling tasks related to truck loading/unloading and cargo securing.
