Duties Safely operate flatbed trucks, including tractor-trailers, across designated OTR routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards Load, secure, and unload freight using manual handling techniques, forklift equipment (is a plus but not required), or other tools as required for logistics cargo handling Transport various types of freight such as lumber, precast concrete, steel, plastic pipe and steel pipe. Navigate using GPS systems to optimize routes and ensure timely deliveries while maintaining awareness of traffic conditions and route changes Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks to verify safety standards and vehicle condition; report any mechanical issues promptly Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation in line with FMCSA and DOT regulations Collaborate with dispatch teams to coordinate delivery schedules, load & unload operations, and route planning for maximum efficiency Requirements Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A with a clean driving record Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially with flatbed trucks or tractor-trailers on OTR routes with at least 2-3 years minimum experience Knowledge of truck loading and unloading procedures, including manual handling and forklift operation when necessary (NOT REQUIRED BUT A PLUS) Familiarity with straps, chain & binders, tarps, coil racks, oversize loads Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently and safely Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance requirements, and safety protocols for commercial trucking Experience with route driving using GPS navigation systems for efficient delivery planning Physical ability to tarp and untarp flatbed freight when necessary Excellent communication skills for coordinating with dispatchers, customers, and safety personnel Flexibility to work long hours on the road across various routes while maintaining safety standards Must be able to pass a drug test, physical and drive test.
