Combination Delivery Driver & Warehouse Assistant
Manhattan Wine CompanyManhattan Wine Company (“MWC”) with warehouses located in Clifton, NJ and Ramsey, NJ is looking for a new hire experienced as BOTH a delivery truck driver/assistant and warehouse assistant, to work out of either location as needed. Over more than two decades, MWC has established a reputation for excellent service and integrity in the storage and transportation of fine and rare wines in the NYC metro market and beyond. JOB DESCRIPTION This position will be an entry level hourly position, requiring 40+ hours/week, typically beginning at 7:30 AM. This position will split time between our warehouses and our daily delivery route, depending on need. There is an opportunity to earn overtime pay (1.5x regular pay). We are looking for a hard-working individual with a passion and an interest in learning and being part of a dynamic, professional team. RESPONSIBILITIES Assist driver in delivering alcohol packages to different addresses and through different routes. Act as driver on days when the company runs two vehicles or other drivers are not available. You MUST have experience operating a large commercial box truck throughout New York City. This requires a very different skill set than being an Uber or Amazon driver in suburban New Jersey. Obtain proof of delivery/pickup documentation for all stops. Assist in loading and unloading delivery vehicle. Accurately and swiftly pull warehouse orders for delivery. Accurately shelve boxes to bar coded bins. Assist in the loading and unloading of freight trailer trucks by hand or using a forklift. Build and securely wrap pallets for transit. Act as primary employee responsible for warehouse cleanliness. Removal of all trash and debris to dumpster. Cut up and dispose of recyclable cardboard. Sweep and mop facility on regular basis. Comply with any direct order given by a supervisor or manager. Work flexible hours, which include early mornings, evenings and occasional weekends. QUALIFICATIONS Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving history. All suitable applicants will be subjected to a motor vehicle and background check. Must be 21 years of age or older. Must have prior experience operating 16-20 foot box trucks, particularly in New York City (no CDL required). REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma. Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator. Good communication skills both verbally and written and the ability to read, write, speak and understand English well. Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. Must maintain professional dress code and grooming standards while working. Must maintain and adhere to company standards, policies, regulations and procedures. Must be able to represent company with a positive attitude at all times. Ability to safely operate vehicles, pallet jacks and hand truck. Forklift operator preferred, but not required. Ability to push, pull, stand, walk, bend, squat, twist and lift up to 50 lbs repetitively. Must be able to make deliveries to accounts with stock rooms upstairs or downstairs. Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time and complete them. Provide high level of customer service. Competent to work independently on daily tasks.
