GENERAL SUMMARY The Coffee Production Roaster will have a deep understanding of coffee beans, roasting profiles, and a keen eye for quality control. The Coffee Production Roaster will be responsible for roasting coffee beans to perfection, ensuring consistency in flavor, and maintaining the highest standards of quality throughout the production process. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. Operate and maintain coffee roasting equipment according to company standards. Develop and execute roasting profiles to achieve desired flavor characteristics. Adjust roasting parameters to maintain consistency and quality across batches. Monitor and record roasting data, making adjustments as necessary to improve the final product. Collaborate with the quality control team to troubleshoot any issues related to roast profiles or bean quality. Manage green coffee bean inventory, including receiving, storage, and rotation. Keep accurate records of roasted coffee inventory and production batches. Coordinate with the supply chain team to ensure a steady supply of green coffee beans. Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of roasting equipment to ensure optimal performance. Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed, coordinating with external technicians if necessary. Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to all safety protocols. Continuously seek opportunities to improve roasting processes and product quality. Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge. Other duties as assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities. FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY Position has limited fiscal responsibility. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Required Education and Experience High school diploma (or GED equivalent). Experience as a Coffee Roaster or similar role in the coffee industry a plus. Required Licenses or Certifications Relevant expertise and/or certifications (e.g., Specialty Coffee Association roasting certification) are a plus COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES Knowledge of: In-depth knowledge of coffee beans, roasting processes, and flavor profiles. Familiarity with roasting equipment and machinery maintenance. Skill in: Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality products. Basic computer skills for recording and analyzing production data. Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships Ability to: Problem Solving: High degree of analysis, problem solving and creativity. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Meet schedules and deadlines for the work Manage and schedule time effectively POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK Work is primarily on the production floor, but may also include work in the cupping lab.
