CNC Aerospace Material Buyer
Falcon Engineering CorporationMesa, AZ 85212 Job Type: Full-time Schedule: four day, 10-hour shifts Phoenix Manufacturing LLC is looking for an experienced Material Buyer to support our CNC machining and aerospace manufacturing operations while also supporting the textile side of the business . This role partners closely with cross-functional teams to ensure customer requirements and deadlines are met. The ideal candidate is a strong negotiator, skilled in supplier management, material planning, procurement strategy, and team leadership, with experience in a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Lead procurement and supply chain activities to ensure on-time delivery of raw materials and outside services Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers to resolve supply issues quickly and effectively Develop and execute sourcing strategies across product lines and commodities Lead supplier negotiations, strategic purchasing contracts, and supplier agreements Drive spend management strategies to improve cost, quality, lead times, risk, and overall supply chain efficiency Manage supplier performance through formal assessments, scorecards, and review routines Proactively manage material inventory to minimize write-offs and meet customer lead-time commitments Maintain standard costs, usage data, bills of material, and costing systems accurately Oversee purchasing of production and non-production items Create purchase orders for raw materials and outside processing in accordance with production schedules Track material status and communicate delivery timelines to internal teams Communicate with vendors regarding schedule changes, delivery performance, and material availability Lead purchasing KPIs and variance analysis routines Recommend and improve procurement policies and procedures Ensure procurement records are maintained from origination through completion Manage and lead procurement team members Provide guidance and direction by presenting procurement options and recommendations Develop a working knowledge of Falcon’s products and processes to support schedule stability, lead-time accuracy, and load-leveling Learn and support the textile side of the business as needed Qualifications Minimum 10 years of progressive procurement or supply chain experience in aerospace , OR Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred, plus 5 years of relevant experience Strong Excel skills Strong negotiation skills Ability to read specifications and aerospace drawings Understanding of material requirements, outside processing requirements, and quality standards Strong analytical and decision-making skills Experience collecting and analyzing data Experience managing a team of at least 5 Experience with ERP systems Experience in Aerospace CNC Manufacturing or Aerospace Hardware Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts, such as 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma Experience with DoD, DLA, and aerospace prime purchasing/contracts Knowledge of FAR and DFAR Familiarity with databases such as Partsbase, Govgistics, DIBBS, and Qualified Products Database Prior experience working with local Phoenix outside process vendors and material suppliers preferred Work Environment This position is primarily office-based but requires regular time on the manufacturing floor. The shop is heated and air-conditioned, and noise levels are typically high due to industrial machines.
