Job Summary
The Clinical Operations Officer or Director of Nursing (DON) is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality resident care in our skilled nursing facility. The DON will develop and implement care plans, maintain compliance with healthcare regulations, and foster a collaborative environment among nursing staff. This position requires a strong understanding of nursing practices, regulatory standards, and effective management skills to enhance patient outcomes and promote a culture of excellence.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise nursing staff, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans based on resident assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of medical records.
  • Oversee the management of medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct regular training sessions for nursing staff on best practices in patient care and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate home health services as needed.
  • Monitor patient health status and make necessary adjustments to care plans based on changing needs.
  • Ensure adherence to MDS (Minimum Data Set) requirements for resident assessments.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and relevant medical practices to inform decision-making.


Requirements

 

Requirements

  • Active WV Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Proven experience in nursing leadership or supervisory roles within assisted living, skilled nursing, or other acute healthcare settings.
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Familiarity with care plan development and implementation processes.
  • Excellent understanding of medical records management practices.
  • Knowledge of home health services and the ability to coordinate these effectively.
  • Proficient in anatomy and physiology concepts relevant to patient care.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, and families.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team environment.
