Spring Independent School DistrictDays per Year: 260 Min: $36,400 Mid: $42,806 JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE : Clerk-Receiving REPORTS TO: Foremen-Distribution WAGE/HOUR STATUS : Non Exempt PAY GRADE: Aux 5 PRIMARY PURPOSE: The role of the clerk is responsible for receiving shipments of inventory items; checking quantity, quality and description against the Purchase Order and noting any damage, leakage, or shortage on the bill of lading. Label product, stock shelves and maintain the highest quality standards of Supply Service by inspecting and correcting problems with inventory and shipments received. Training and instructing staff members on how to correctly pick stock and conducting inventory counts. Employee may be required to drive regular scheduled delivery routes as necessary and is directly responsible for collecting and checking all paperwork necessary to maintain accurate records on each shipment received. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: High School Graduate or GED from an accredited institution Preferred: Two+ years job related experience Supervisory experience in planning, scheduling and training SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Experience driving large delivery trucks Warehouse shipping/Receiving experience Experience pulling and packing orders for shipment MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES AND DUTIES: Daily receive shipments of inventory items Check bills of lading, and packing slips against Purchase Orders and maintain accurate records of shipments received Inspect and correct problems with Purchase Orders, receiving documents and inventory counts Supervise, train and instruct staff members in picking, restocking and inventorying stock items Label stock, label shelves, rotate existing stock, and manage inventory Stock inventory in the proper location within the warehouse Notify office when running low on stock items Drive delivery trucks on an as needed basis Load and unload all types of materials with forklifts and pallet jacks Conduct cyclical and annual inventory counts Cross-train in all warehouse positions Perform routine housekeeping tasks to maintain the work area Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and foreman WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires a person that is able to maintain emotional control under stress. The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following: ability to work in a fast-paced, high-intensity work environment efficiently and effectively with frequent interruptions. Job may require prolonged periods of time sitting, reaching and repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Overtime is required as necessary. Duties performed require considerable initiative and tact. The position requires leadership qualities such as: adaptability, flexibility, dependability and accountability. Maintain confidential information and frequent contact with all levels within and outside of the district.
