GENERAL FUNCTION

This role is responsible for the overall transportation flows, including monitoring service performance and identifying and implementing improvements. This role works closely with the Operations teams, serving as the key contact for Transportation. The Transportation Coordinator stays on top of transportation-related financial activities, liaising with Finance to ensure timely payment of all invoices.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Track shipments and monitor service performance
  • Provide daily/weekly reports to Essilor Canada entities and North American transportation
  • Work with the BI Team to provide the relevant sources of Transportation data for weekly KPI reporting
  • Challenge our freight vendors if the OTP is below target
  • Attend weekly operations meeting with each of our freight vendors to review service performance and highlight any areas of concern
  • Identify and implement service performance opportunities
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, able to identify and resolve any issues across all Transportation flows 
  • Provide reporting and troubleshooting support to Operations team as required 
  • Supervise inbound shipments (parts and consumable, contact lenses, ophthalmic lenses imported from overseas) and outbound shipments (ophthalmic lenses and contact lenses distribution to stores and customers)
  • Obtain all the vendor invoice statements
  • Approve transportation invoices
  • Work directly with our finance BA and logistics analyst to validate the Transportation spend
  • Liaise with AP to ensure Transportation vendors are paid on time
  • Coordinate with customer service and sales
  • Identify anomalies and unique trends in complex data to support timely and dynamic approaches to delivering enhanced service levels as well as freight reductions within the Essilor Canada network
  • Track savings in transportation projects
  • Support annual budget process
  • Provide support to Sourcing team for RFPs, new Freight Forwarders implementations, vendor files maintenance and vendor evaluations (QBRs, etc.)
  • Ensure full compliance with customs and government agency requirements
  • S Code classification
  • Audit Shipping documents
  • Perform tasks with a high level of confidentiality, experience, professionalism, detail orientation, thoroughness, and accuracy

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 + years experience in domestic and international transportation/distribution/ compliance.
  • Strong customer service skills 
  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Applications 
  • Strong communication and relationship skills 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Strong negotiating skills 
  • Bilingualism (French, English), an asset

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Lean/Six Sigma experience preferred 

Pay Range: 77,907.50  - 85,580.00
