Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) driver to join our transportation team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles to transport passengers or goods, ensuring timely and secure deliveries while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. Responsibilities Safely operate Class B commercial vehicles, including transit buses, school buses, or vans, following all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Transport passengers or cargo efficiently while maintaining a high standard of safety and comfort. Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, including wheelchair assistance and child safety procedures, ensuring passenger comfort and security at all times. Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before each trip. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation in case of accidents or incidents, including emergency stop procedures and first aid protocols. Communicate effectively with dispatchers, passengers, and team members using clear language and active listening skills. Respond quickly to traffic changes or delays by adjusting routes as needed to maintain schedule integrity. Skills Proven experience in bus driving, school bus operation, or transit bus operation with a strong understanding of vehicle codes and traffic laws. Knowledge of transportation safety regulations, child care policies, passenger safety protocols, and school policy knowledge. Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for loading/unloading cargo or assisting passengers. Familiarity with emergency response procedures for transportation incidents and CPR certification is preferred. Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities. Strong behavior management skills for maintaining order among passengers of all ages, including children and seniors. Demonstrated ability to respond quickly to traffic changes with defensive driving techniques and quick decision-making skills.
