Class B CDL Driver

Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Class B Driver to join our salvage yard team. The driver will transport scrap metal from our West Virginia location to various destinations in Pennsylvania. This role requires adherence to safety regulations, prompt delivery schedules, and excellent customer service while representing our company in a professional manner. Transportation: Safely operate Class B vehicles, including flatbeds and dump trucks, to transport scrap metal between designated locations. Loading/Unloading: Assist with the secure loading and unloading of scrap metal, ensuring compliance with weight restrictions and proper tie-down procedures. Safety Compliance: Follow all DOT regulations and company safety policies, conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections to maintain vehicle safety. Route Planning: Plan and follow efficient routes to ensure timely pickups and deliveries while minimizing fuel costs. Documentation: Accurately complete and submit all required documentation, including logs, manifests, and trip reports. Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance checks, such as monitoring fluid levels, tire pressure, and reporting any mechanical issues to the maintenance team. Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and site personnel to coordinate pickups and deliveries. Qualifications: License: Valid Class B CDL with a clean driving record. Experience: Minimum of 1 year of commercial driving experience preferred; experience with hauling scrap metal or similar materials is a plus. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and handle physically demanding tasks such as securing loads and inspecting vehicles. Knowledge: Familiarity with DOT regulations, safe driving practices, and loading/unloading protocols for heavy materials. Skills: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
