Responsibilities Safely operate commercial vehicles such as school buses, transit buses, and wheelchair-accessible vans according to all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, including providing wheelchair assistance and supporting individuals with special needs or mobility challenges Maintain a high standard of passenger safety by adhering to child care policies, behavior management protocols, and emergency response procedures for transportation Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and emergency equipment Respond quickly to traffic changes or unexpected situations with defensive driving techniques and emergency stop procedures Communicate effectively with passengers using clear English language skills; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities Follow all school policies, child discipline guidelines, and transportation codes while ensuring a positive experience for riders of all ages Experience Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport and wheelchair assistance Proven experience driving buses or similar large vehicles in compliance with state and local commercial driving laws Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations specific to school bus driving, transit operations, or paratransit services Experience working with children or seniors in a caregiving or transportation setting is highly desirable Strong communication skills for engaging with passengers, parents, school staff, or community members Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for vehicle maintenance or passenger assistance Certifications in first aid and CPR are preferred; training is available for qualified candidates interested in obtaining these credentials Embark on a rewarding career where your dedication ensures safe journeys every day!
