GET PAID FOR 5. 32-Hour Standard Workweek | 40 Hours of Pay | Most Fridays Off City Machine & Welding, Inc. is seeking an experienced Class A CDL Driver – Local / Yard Driver . This is not an over-the-road position . The primary responsibility is moving and positioning trailers on company property, with periodic local driving and occasional same-day trips within the surrounding Tri-State area. This is a strong opportunity for an experienced OTR driver looking for a more predictable daytime schedule while remaining home every night . Work Schedule Monday–Thursday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. One-hour unpaid lunch 32 hours actually worked 40 hours of pay Most Fridays off Employees may be required to work approximately every third Friday , based on business needs. When a full Friday shift is worked, the employee works 40 actual hours and receives 48 hours of pay . Overtime eligibility begins when actual hours worked exceed 40 during the applicable workweek. Primary Responsibilities Move and position trailers throughout company property. Spot trailers at production, loading, unloading, and storage locations. Safely couple, uncouple, back, and maneuver tractor-trailer combinations. Perform local pickups and deliveries. Complete occasional same-day regional trips. Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Inspect tractors and trailers for safety or maintenance concerns. Properly secure loads before transportation. Complete required transportation documentation. Report vehicle or trailer deficiencies promptly. Follow company safety requirements and applicable commercial-motor-vehicle regulations. Maintain professional communication with employees, customers, vendors, and supervisors. Assist with related transportation duties as needed. Required Qualifications Applicants must meet all minimum requirements: Minimum 3 years of professional OTR Class A CDL driving experience. Valid Class A CDL . Ability to satisfy applicable DOT medical requirements. Demonstrated experience backing, maneuvering, coupling, and positioning tractor-trailer combinations. Knowledge of commercial vehicle inspections and safe driving practices. Knowledge of basic load-securement requirements. Strong situational awareness and judgment. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Applicants with less than three years of OTR Class A CDL experience do not meet the minimum qualification for this position. CDL / DOT Requirements Applicants must be able to satisfy applicable commercial-driver requirements, including: Valid Class A CDL Motor Vehicle Record review FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse requirements DOT medical qualification Required drug and alcohol testing Applicable background screening Driver qualification documentation Preferred Experience Experience in the following areas is beneficial: Yard or hostler driving Trailer spotting Local Class A driving Flatbed or equipment transportation Manufacturing or industrial transportation Local pickup and delivery Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Lift, carry, and safely handle up to 100 pounds. Enter and exit commercial vehicles repeatedly. Sit and drive for varying periods. Stand and walk throughout the facility and yard. Bend, reach, climb, and crouch during vehicle inspections. Couple and uncouple tractor-trailer equipment. Connect and disconnect air and electrical lines. Handle chains, straps, and load-securement equipment. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
