Class 1 Truck Driver (Lowbed Experience) Part Time

Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and experienced Part-Time/Casual Class 1 Truck Driver with Lowbed experience to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating heavy-duty trucks equipped with lowbed trailers to transport oversized or specialized freight. Your expertise in commercial driving, coupled with your ability to handle heavy equipment and perform automotive repairs when necessary, will ensure timely and secure deliveries. The ideal candidate will have lowbed driving experience and a strong commitment to adhering to the National Safety Code (NSC) standards in British Columbia. This position has a varied work schedule, and hours are NOT guaranteed. Ideal for a retired truck driver, wanting to make extra money. Responsibilities Safely operate Class 1 trucks with lowbed trailers to transport heavy equipment, attachments and parts within BC and Alberta. Securely load, unload, and inspect freight, ensuring proper placement and safety during transit. Conduct routine vehicle inspections and basic automotive repairs to maintain optimal truck performance. Coordinate with dispatchers to plan efficient routes and adhere to delivery schedules. Operate auxiliary equipment such as forklifts for loading and unloading cargo when required. Maintain accurate documentation of pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and equipment. Ensure all loads are secured properly and in compliance with safety regulations. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, inspections, and maintenance activities. Follow all local, provincial, and federal transportation regulations and NSC standards. Communicate effectively with office staff to ensure accurate and timely deliveries and record keeping. Requirements Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record. Proven experience operating lowbed trailers and handling heavy equipment transportation. Strong knowledge of NSC standards and BC transportation regulations. Knowledge of freight handling procedures and securing oversized loads. Ability to work independently and efficiently Ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently. Basic automotive repair skills for troubleshooting minor mechanical issues. Experience with heavy equipment operation is highly desirable.
