We are hiring experienced Class 1 drivers for full-time seasonal limestone hauling based in Smithers, BC , supporting the Newmont Brucejack project. Equipment assignments include Super B side dumps, Super B end dumps, and dump trucks with quad end-dump trailers . Routes connect the Smithers area, Dahl Lake Quarry near Vanderhoof, and the designated Brucejack staging area near Stewart. Your route and equipment assignment will be confirmed before you start. We’re looking for dependable drivers who take pride in their equipment, communicate clearly and make safe decisions on mountain roads and in changing weather conditions. Pay and schedule Compensation: Trip-rated pay equivalent to $42–$45 per hour . Your applicable trip rate and payment basis will be explained before you accept the position. Rotation: We are open to discussing and negotiating a rotation that works for you and the operation. Operating schedule: Work generally runs Monday to Saturday, subject to your agreed rotation, dispatch, weather and project requirements. Travel: Flat-rate travel pay is available for eligible non-local drivers, with details confirmed during hiring. Employment: Full-time seasonal. Driving and shift options We have different operating arrangements depending on equipment, driver availability and project needs: Smithers-based day cabs with shared shifts: Two drivers may share a truck on separate shifts, with approximately 10-hour trip cycles . Shift times and handover arrangements will be confirmed before assignment. Sleeper truck runs: Longer assignments that may use a driver’s full available workday, up to 13 hours of driving and 14 hours on duty , subject to applicable hours-of-service limits, required rest, fatigue and site rules. Day cabs with your own accommodation: Drivers arranging their own accommodation may also be assigned a full available workday, subject to the same limits and requirements. Your route, shift arrangement, rotation and accommodation will be agreed upon before you start. Accommodation and living-out allowance For eligible non-local drivers, the daily LOA depends on your accommodation arrangement: Hotel accommodation: $75/day . Staying in a sleeper-equipped truck: $150/day . Providing your own accommodation while assigned to a day-cab truck: $200/day . Your accommodation arrangement and applicable allowance will be confirmed before you start. Company-paid benefits Benefits begin after 90 days of employment , subject to plan eligibility. Stromsten pays 100% of the benefits premiums . What you’ll do Safely operate your assigned truck and trailer configuration. Complete pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspections, and report equipment defects promptly. Follow safe loading and dumping procedures, including checking ground conditions, stability and overhead clearance. Follow legal weight limits and load-securement requirements. Install tire chains when required and drive appropriately for weather, road and traction conditions. Complete accurate bills of lading, scale-ticket submissions, time records and electronic logs. Follow company and site procedures, including radio communications and access instructions. Keep Dispatch informed of delays, equipment concerns and delivery progress. Complete clear equipment and status handovers when sharing a truck. Maintain clean truck and trailer boxes to prevent contamination of the limestone. Work professionally with loading crews, site personnel, customers and fellow drivers.
