The Opportunity The Clamp Truck Operator plays a critical role in keeping the corrugator supplied with materials and maintaining an organized warehouse environment. The Clamp Truck Operator is responsible for safely operating a clamp truck to transport paper rolls and materials throughout the corrugator department while supporting continuous production operations. This position ensures the timely delivery and removal of roll stock, maintains accurate inventory records, conducts equipment inspections, and follows all safety and quality requirements. How you will impact Smurfit Westrock: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Safely operate a clamp truck to move paper rolls and related materials throughout the plant. Deliver roll stock to the corrugator as required to maintain production efficiency. Remove and return butt rolls and unused stock to designated storage locations. Read and interpret corrugator lineups to ensure proper paper roll selection. Record all paper rolls delivered to the corrugator using required documentation and tracking systems. Mark butt rolls with size, diameter, lineal footage, and grade information before returning them to inventory. Unload paper rolls from trailers and inspect incoming materials for physical damage. Report damaged materials and inventory discrepancies to supervision. Complete daily pre-shift clamp truck inspections and document findings. Submit maintenance work orders for equipment requiring repair. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and storage area. Turn in roll stock tallies and production-related documentation to supervision. Assist corrugator operators and production personnel as directed. Learn and assist with starch preparation and wastewater treatment operations as assigned. Support training efforts for starch mixers, doublebacker operators, dry-end personnel, and other team members regarding clamp truck operations. Follow proper lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending techniques. Perform all duties in a manner that prevents injury, product damage, and equipment damage. Adhere to all company safety rules, policies, and health regulations. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. TRAINING AND EVALUATION The successful candidate will receive on-the-job training in clamp truck operations, corrugator support functions, starch preparation, and wastewater treatment processes as applicable. Performance will be reviewed following the first 30 days in the position and thereafter according to company policy. What you need to succeed: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Previous manufacturing or warehouse experience preferred. Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment. Prior experience in a corrugated manufacturing environment preferred. Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English. Ability to read a tape measure accurately and efficiently. Ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds on a regular basis Ability to read and understand production schedules, WIP tags, and material identification information. Basic understanding of dimensions, quantities, and order identification. Ability to distinguish between different material grades, sizes, and customer orders. Experience operating material-handling equipment preferred. Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Must be qualified as a Bundler or have equivalent applicable experience. Ability to identify and address potential production issues before downtime occurs. Must meet eligibility requirements under the applicable labor agreement or possess relevant work-related experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous experience in the corrugated packaging industry.
