Department: Cigars (Warehouse) Job Status: Full Time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Cigars Receiving & Shipping Supervisor Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 05:00 A.M / 05:30 A.M. – 2:30 P.M. Positions Supervised: N/A POSITION SUMMARY: The Cigars Material Handler works under the close supervision of senior personnel within the department. This role requires a moderate understanding of general job functions. Candidates may have 0–1 year of experience operating warehouse machinery or performing general labor tasks. The Material Handler sets up and operates production equipment according to established procedures and guidelines. This includes using computer-controlled systems to position and operate automatic or semi-automatic machinery. The role involves monitoring, controlling, and adjusting machine settings to complete routine tasks in accordance with production specifications. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for reading purchase orders to ascertain sizes and quantities of merchandise. Responsible for cleaning and organizing assigned areas to maintain the organization of the warehouse. Receive all purchase orders in the warehouse using a forklift or proper equipment. Responsible for loading and offloading containers. Responsible for lifting merchandise cases and setting them on pallets to put them away. Responsible for Assisting the drivers as needed to provide faster loading and offloading of trucks/containers. Responsible for producing documentation of damaged products from purchase orders received to maintain accurate inventory. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly. Ability to learn how to operate machinery. Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word. Ability to take care of the customers’ needs while following company procedures. Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task. Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations. Ability to follow company procedures Physically fit, able to lift cases weighing up to 50 lbs. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: High School diploma or equivalent is preferred. Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. May require 0-1 year of general work experience utilizing machinery of some type. Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and flexible shifts as required. COMPUTER SKILLS: Keyboard or Computer Skills – Experience using handheld scanning devices (R F Smart).
