Chinese Purchasing Manager

Job Summary China New Star is seeking an experienced and organized Chinese Purchasing Manager to oversee purchasing activities, supplier relationships, and inventory procurement for restaurant operations. This role is responsible for sourcing quality food ingredients, negotiating supplier terms, managing purchasing budgets, monitoring inventory requirements, and ensuring timely deliveries. The ideal candidate has strong procurement experience, knowledge of Chinese cuisine ingredients, and the ability to maintain reliable supplier relationships while controlling purchasing costs. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily purchasing and procurement activities for restaurant operations. Source ingredients, beverages, kitchen supplies, and operational materials. Coordinate purchasing requirements for Chinese dishes, including noodles, rice, sauces, vegetables, meats, and specialty ingredients. Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with reliable food suppliers and distributors. Negotiate pricing, payment terms, product specifications, and delivery schedules. Review purchase requests and approve orders according to operational budgets. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to prevent shortages. Evaluate supplier performance based on product quality, pricing, and delivery reliability. Review incoming deliveries for accuracy, freshness, quality, and quantity. Maintain accurate purchase orders, invoices, contracts, and supplier records. Monitor food purchasing expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities. Coordinate with kitchen managers to forecast ingredient requirements. Resolve supplier issues involving shortages, damaged products, or delayed deliveries. Ensure purchasing activities follow company policies and applicable food safety requirements. Prepare purchasing reports and present procurement updates to management. Qualifications and Requirements Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field preferred. Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management. Restaurant, hotel, or food service procurement experience preferred. Knowledge of Chinese cuisine ingredients and restaurant supply requirements. Strong negotiation, communication, and supplier management skills. Experience with purchasing budgets, inventory control, and cost management. Proficiency in spreadsheets and purchasing or inventory management systems. Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making abilities. Ability to manage multiple purchasing priorities and deadlines. Understanding of food quality, storage, and supplier compliance requirements. Preferred Skills Experience purchasing specialty Chinese ingredients and imported food products. Familiarity with food distributors, wholesalers, and local suppliers. Ability to evaluate product quality and compare supplier quotations. Knowledge of inventory forecasting and purchasing cost analysis. Strong vendor relationship management abilities. Experience developing procurement procedures and supplier performance reports.
