The Chief Inspector is responsible for providing field-based surveillance, expediting, and owner-representative services supporting fabrication, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and delivery activities for project contracts. The individual shall serve as an on-site representative at vendor, fabricator, and subcontractor facilities to monitor progress, identify schedule risks, verify contractual performance, and provide timely reporting to project management. This position requires extensive domestic and international travel, including but not limited to fabrication yards, manufacturing facilities, equipment suppliers, and integration sites located in the United States, Norway, South Korea, and other locations as required. Job Title: Chief Inspector Location: New Iberia, LA What you'll do: Act as TGL's on-site representative at vendor and contractor facilities. Monitor fabrication, manufacturing, assembly, testing, integration, preservation, packaging, and shipment activities. Verify suppliers are progressing work in accordance with contract requirements, approved schedules, and agreed milestones. Attend production meetings, progress reviews, inspections, FATs, and readiness assessments. Review contractor progress against baseline schedules, recovery plans, and forecast completion dates. Monitor critical-path activities, long-lead equipment fabrication, and material availability. Identify schedule, quality, logistics, documentation, or resource constraints that may impact contract performance. Coordinate with TGL Procurement, Project Controls, Engineering, Quality, and Project Management personnel. Escalate emerging risks and issues requiring management intervention. Verify vendor-reported progress and provide independent assessments of actual progress achieved. Monitor completion of action items and punch list activities. Support vendor audits, fabrication yard assessments, and contractor performance reviews. Observe loading, transportation, preservation, and shipment activities when required. What it takes to be successful in this role: Must be able to walk long distances Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl Must be able to stand for extended durations Must be able to reach in all directions Must have good visual acuity with regards to color, depth perception and field vision Must be able to work in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold temperatures Must be alert and able to determine job related hazards and recognize when hazards change Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally Must be able to work well in a team environment and clearly and professionally communicate with other team members Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record is required Minimum Requirements: 15+ years of EPC, fabrication, manufacturing, construction, or major-project execution experience. Experience working at fabrication yards, OEM facilities, module yards, offshore facilities, shipyards, or heavy industrial manufacturing plants. Demonstrated experience in expediting, surveillance, fabrication monitoring, or owner's representative roles. Ability to read and interpret project schedules and progress reports.
