Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailers and other commercial vehicles, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Plan and execute over-the-road (OTR) driving routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries across regional or national destinations. Load and unload freight efficiently, utilizing manual handling techniques when necessary, while ensuring cargo safety and security during transit. Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods following hazardous materials regulations to maintain safety for yourself, fellow drivers, and the environment. Conduct pre-trip inspections of trucks to verify mechanical condition, safety features, and compliance with DOT regulations before departure. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, inspection reports, and cargo documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or any incidents encountered on the road. Skills Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on freight transportation across various routes. Strong knowledge of trucking equipment including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and hazardous materials handling. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and real-time adjustments. Ability to load and unload freight safely using manual handling techniques; experience with truck loading/unloading is preferred. Excellent understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), and hazardous materials regulations. Skilled in driving manual transmission trucks with proficiency in manual handling of logistics cargo. Experience delivering freight via route driving with attention to safety protocols for dangerous goods or hazardous materials.
