A CDL Driver is responsible for safely operating company vehicles and trucks to transport materials, equipment, tools, and supplies to and from construction sites. This position works closely with field crews and equipment operators and may assist with general construction activities when needed. Key responsibilities: Operating the equipment: Safely and skillfully operate according to manufacture requirements, including transporting materials, aggregate, dirt, equipment, and tools. Pre-shift inspections: Conducting thorough checks of the vehicle before each shift to ensure proper functionality and identify any potential issues. Maintenance and cleaning: Performing daily maintenance tasks like lubrication, fluid checks, and cleaning. Loading trucks and other vehicles: Efficiently loads materials onto dump trucks or other transportation vehicles. Ensuring loads are properly secured before starting a trip. Driving and dumping: Efficiently drives, backs and dumps materials. Safety and site awareness: Follow all safety protocols and regulations while operating machinery. Safely maneuver trucks in and around active construction sites, excavation areas, traffic, equipment, and utility crews. Follow all applicable DOT regulations, OSHA requirements, and company safety policies. Communication: Communicate effectively with superintendents, foreman, and operators regarding deliveries, hauling, and job-site activities. Reporting issues: Reporting daily any vehicle damage, malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor. Skills and qualifications: Valid license or certification: Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required. Coordination and stability: Good hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and the ability to operate levers and controls for extended periods. Physical fitness: Ability to operate vehicles for extended periods, climb ladders and traverse uneven terrain, lift and carry 50lbs, work in adverse weather conditions and perform manual tasks as needed. Mechanical aptitude: Basic understanding of machine mechanics to troubleshoot, identify, and repair/maintain minor issues. Safety awareness: Strong commitment to safety procedures and awareness of potential hazards. Communication skills: Effective communication with other crew members using hand signals and verbal instructions. Potential work environments: Outside- Extreme weather conditions, sun exposure, heat stress, cold, wind, rain, dust, insects and animal bites and other environmental factors according to location. May be exposed to heavy equipment, moving vehicles, excavation and trenching operations, dust, mud, noise, and other construction-related hazards.
