We are looking for an experienced Class A CDL trainer (with Passenger Endorsement preferred) to join our team, but if you are a great communicator and would enjoy one-on-one training and teaching the next generation of professional truck drivers, we will consider training you as the right candidate. The ideal candidate is a good communicator, enjoys working with a diverse group of trainees, and has empathy and patience when dealing with others. Our company is growing rapidly and is looking for a part-time CDL trainer to support our operations; this role requires deep expertise as a professional CDL driver (with Passenger Endorsement is a plus), behind-the-wheel training, and CDL trucking operations, preferably with a large carrier. We work with your schedule you need time off in between assignments we make it happen. Responsibilities for a Part-Time Commercial Truck Driver Trainer, In-Person The instructor will be responsible for evaluating, coaching, and guiding trainees along with delivering on-site exercise materials; the DLTS educational platform is complete with supplies, tutorials, and learning resources such as online modules and guides. The ideal candidate is a confident communicator and enjoys teaching, who is up to date on the latest CDL educational tools and resources needed to improve training and performance. Duties & Responsibilities Conducts theoretical and technical training classes for commercial vehicles, providing behind the wheel Pre-trip, range and practical applications for classes in A and B Commercial Motor Vehicles. Uses established training materials to present formal class training exercises and lab work to students. (All training materials provided by DLTS) Provides training in policy and procedures in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. Uses established training materials to present training exercises and practice in preparing students to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle. Provides hands-on training in advanced applications, training, and testing preparations in vehicle inspection, skill maneuvers, and road driving skills. Preparing and providing course syllabi and instructional materials to students. Evaluating and reviewing trainees’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. Keeping appropriate records of testing and grading, as per ELDT standards. Utilizing technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, communicate with others and facilitate learning. Maintaining trainee discipline through effective communication. Attaining, maintaining and reviewing program certification requirements, as appropriate. Fulfilling professional assignments in accordance with the DLTS calendar and contractual obligations.
