Responsibilities Operate CDL-end dump and tandem trucks with precision, adhering to all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify mechanical issues or safety concerns, ensuring compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Safely load, unload, and deliver materials to designated locations, including construction sites, industrial facilities, or other specified destinations. Maintain clear communication with dispatch using two-way radios for driver updates, route adjustments, or emergency situations. Assist passengers with boarding, alighting, or special needs accommodations when applicable, providing excellent customer service at all times. Navigate city streets and rural routes efficiently while managing adverse weather conditions to meet delivery deadlines. Perform routine vehicle maintenance tasks or report repairs needed to ensure optimal vehicle performance. Qualifications Valid CDL license with appropriate endorsements for end dump or tandem trucks; air brake certification preferred. Proven experience in commercial driving, including bus driving, shuttle driving, or delivery driving roles. Strong mechanical knowledge to perform vehicle inspections and minor maintenance tasks confidently. Knowledge of traffic laws, transportation safety regulations, and DOT regulations governing commercial vehicles. Excellent communication skills for effective driver communication via two-way radios and customer interactions. Experience in passenger assistance and handling passenger special needs is a plus. Ability to drive safely in adverse weather conditions and navigate city streets efficiently. Familiarity with vehicle inspection procedures and adherence to state transportation regulations.
