CDL Driver & Yard Maintenance Technician
ICSJoin the ICS team as a CDL Driver & Yard Maintenance Technician and play an important role in keeping our Wisconsin operations, jobsites, and equipment moving efficiently. This is a hands-on position combining commercial truck driving, equipment transportation, material handling, and shop and yard organization. The successful candidate will transport materials, and construction equipment between company locations and jobsites throughout Wisconsin while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe yard and work area. The position involves operating a variety of trucks and equipment, including tractor-trailers, flatbed trucks with pintle trailers, dump trailers, skid steers, forklifts, and front-end loaders. The ability to safely load, secure, and transport excavation and construction equipment is an important part of the job. This position is based out of Wausau, WI, with local and statewide travel throughout Wisconsin. Overnight travel is not required. Responsibilities Safely operate commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, dump trailers, and specialized vehicles. Transport freight, materials, construction equipment, and excavation equipment between company locations and jobsites throughout Wisconsin. Safely load, secure, transport, and unload equipment and materials using appropriate equipment and load-securement techniques. Operate skid steers, forklifts, front-end loaders, and other material-handling equipment. Load and trailer excavation and construction equipment safely and efficiently. Maintain an organized, clean, and safe shop and yard area. Assist with staging equipment, materials, and supplies for upcoming jobs. Perform routine yard maintenance and general material-handling duties as needed. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicles and trailers are safe and compliant with applicable regulations. Maintain accurate driving logs, delivery documentation, inspection reports, and other required records. Follow all applicable DOT and FMCSA regulations, company policies, and safety procedures. Use GPS and routing tools to navigate efficiently and adjust routes as needed based on traffic, road conditions, or delivery requirements. Communicate effectively with management, and field personnel regarding delivery schedules, route changes, equipment needs, and issues encountered during transit. Maintain a professional and safety-focused attitude at all times. Perform other transportation, yard, and material-handling duties as needed to support company operations. Qualifications & Experience Valid CDL Class A license with a safe driving record. Proven experience operating commercial trucks. Experience with flatbed trucks, pintle trailers, dump trailers, and other specialized equipment preferred. Experience hauling and securing construction or excavation equipment. Experience operating forklifts, skid steers, front-end loaders, or similar equipment. Strong understanding of DOT and FMCSA regulations and safe commercial driving practices. Knowledge of proper cargo loading and securement procedures. Ability to confidently operate manual-transmission trucks. Ability to perform required vehicle and trailer inspections. Strong organizational skills with the ability to keep a busy shop and yard clean and orderly. Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with dispatch, management, and field crews. Dependable, safety-minded, and willing to take ownership of assigned responsibilities. Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding tasks as required.
