Character You'll need to be dependable, care about your coworkers and your reputation, and take satisfaction in leaving things better than you found them. Skill You'll spend a surprising amount of your day backing and maneuvering a large truck, sometimes on narrow mountain roads and in tight spaces. You'll need to understand how a heavy truck handles, how to manage your brakes on steep grades, and when to slow down rather than take a chance. We respect good drivers, and we give them room to do their jobs well. Our regular schedule is Monday through Thursday. We don't believe in rushing through the workday to save a few minutes at the expense of safety or good service. We want the job done efficiently, carefully, and correctly. The Job The assignment is straightforward: safely drive your route, make every scheduled stop, and make sure the trash is collected thoroughly. You'll work with a helper, operate a rear-load garbage truck, and be responsible for completing your route safely and consistently. There's satisfaction in getting good at this job. We want drivers who take pride in that. What You'll Do Collect residential trash safely, thoroughly, and on schedule. Communicate with the office throughout the day. Keep your truck clean and take good care of the equipment. Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Operate hydraulic equipment and truck controls safely. Report mechanical problems, safety concerns, accidents, and route delays. Keep accurate route records using onboard technology. Help other crews when needed. Treat customers and coworkers with courtesy and respect. Maintain a drug-free workplace. Follow DOT regulations and company safety procedures, including use of required protective equipment. What You'll Need Valid CDL and acceptable driving record. Experience operating large commercial vehicles, including backing and maneuvering in tight spaces. Good judgment and a strong commitment to safe driving. Dependability and a solid work ethic. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds as needed. Ability to climb, bend, squat, kneel, and enter and exit the truck throughout the day. Willingness to work overtime when needed. A cooperative attitude and willingness to help others.
