Overview Join our dynamic construction company as a CDL Driver (Class A) specializing in HAZMAT transportation! Responsibilities Safely operate Class A commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers with manual transmissions, across over-the-road (OTR) routes and local deliveries. Transport hazardous materials (HAZMAT) in compliance with all Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR), FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques and proper truck loading/unloading procedures to ensure cargo safety and security. Use GPS navigation systems to follow optimized routes, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to traffic laws and safety standards. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers, including refrigerated units when applicable, to verify vehicle safety and readiness. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, and delivery records in compliance with federal regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route adjustments, delivery statuses, or safety concerns related to hazardous or fragile cargo. Requirements Valid Class A CDL license with a clean driving record; experience with commercial truck driving preferred. Certification or experience in handling hazardous materials (HAZMAT), including knowledge of Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR).. Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance standards, and safety protocols for dangerous goods transportation. Excellent manual handling skills for load & unload operations; physically capable of lifting heavy cargo when necessary. Proficiency with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time navigation adjustments. Commitment to safe driving practices and adherence to all federal and state transportation laws.
