CDL Class A Truck Driver – Intermodal Container Transport

Location: Robersonville, NC 27871 Job Type: Full-Time Pay: $750–$1,600 per week (depending on workload) Hiring: Immediately Job Description We are a small trucking company based in Robersonville, North Carolina, actively seeking an experienced, dependable CDL Class A driver to transport intermodal shipping containers between the Port of Norfolk, Virginia, and designated delivery locations. The ideal candidate is a safety-conscious professional with experience navigating port terminals, operating manual transmission tractor-trailers, and maintaining equipment awareness. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, communicates effectively, and can operate independently with minimal supervision. Job Responsibilities Safely operate an 18-wheeler with a manual transmission while transporting intermodal shipping containers. Pick up and deliver containers to and from port terminals in Norfolk, Virginia. Navigate Norfolk port facilities efficiently while following all terminal procedures and safety regulations. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tractor, chassis, and related equipment. Identify mechanical concerns, equipment defects, or potential maintenance issues and promptly report them to company management for repair. Maintain accurate driving logs, delivery documentation, and other required paperwork. Comply with all applicable DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company safety policies. Communicate effectively regarding delivery schedules, equipment conditions, and operational concerns. Required Qualifications Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Minimum 2 years of tractor-trailer driving experience. Valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card required. Must be able to operate a manual transmission tractor-trailer. CDL must NOT have an automatic transmission restriction (Restriction E). Experience navigating the Port of Norfolk, VA, and intermodal terminals strongly preferred. Good understanding of basic truck mechanics and the ability to recognize and report maintenance issues. Acceptable driving record and ability to meet DOT medical and driver qualification requirements. Strong work ethic, reliability, punctuality, and professionalism.
