CDL Class A Driver / Forklift Operator

Location: 150 Acorn Industry Road, Morehead, KY 40351 Department: Production Job Type: Part-Time Work Location: In Person Position Overview Diamond Forest Resources, Inc. is seeking a part-time CDL Class A Driver / Forklift Operator for our Morehead, Kentucky location. This is a combination position that includes both CDL driving and forklift operation inside the plant and yard. The employee will transport loads using dry vans and flatbeds and will also operate a forklift to load and unload trucks, move bundles of lumber, and move stacks of pallets. When not driving, the employee will assist with forklift operations and other tasks assigned by the yard manager in and around the plant, shop, or yard. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCDL Driving Follow all instructions and promptly communicate any safety concerns. Inspect truck equipment and supplies, including tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water, to make sure the vehicle is roadworthy. Maintain the knowledge and skills needed to operate single and multi-rear axle trucks in compliance with applicable CDL standards, laws, and regulations. Conduct accurate pre-trip inspections. Properly complete the driver's logbook. Be able to explain inspection procedures and their purpose. Safely maneuver and operate the vehicle on-site and over the road. Use proper signaling and maintain awareness of surrounding hazards. Maintain safe speed control and lane positioning. Adjust driving based on road, traffic, and weather conditions. Safely load and unload equipment and materials across different terrains. Properly secure all loads before transportation. Safely haul both dry vans and flatbeds. Properly throw and position straps for flatbed loads. Properly strap down and secure loads on a flatbed. Fuel and perform basic servicing of the vehicle as required. Understand and properly operate an air brake system when the vehicle is equipped with one. Forklift Operation Operate a forklift safely in the plant and yard. Load and unload trucks using a forklift. Move bundles of lumber throughout the plant and yard. Move stacks of pallets as needed. Position lumber, pallets, and other materials safely in designated areas. Maintain awareness of employees, equipment, trucks, and other hazards while operating the forklift. Follow all safety procedures when loading, unloading, stacking, and moving materials. Plant and Yard Support When not driving, perform assigned work in and around the plant, shop, or yard. Complete tasks assigned by the yard manager. Communicate safety concerns or equipment problems promptly. Follow company safety procedures while operating trucks, forklifts, and other equipment. Requirements Must have a current and valid Commercial Class A Driver's License. Previous CDL driving experience required. Must be DOT certified. Must be able to safely operate a forklift. Must be able to haul both dry van and flatbed trailers. Must be able to throw straps for flatbed loads. Must be able to properly strap down and secure flatbed loads. Ability to perform accurate pre-trip inspections and maintain required driver logs. Ability to safely load and unload materials. Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions. Ability to operate safely around lumber, pallets, trucks, forklifts, and other equipment. Must be able to work extended shifts when scheduled, including shifts of up to 12 hours and occasionally up to 14 hours Monday through Friday. Preferred Qualifications Two years of related CDL driving experience is highly preferred. Experience operating a forklift and handling lumber or pallets is preferred. Physical and Work Requirements Ability to work both inside the plant and outdoors in changing and extreme weather conditions.
