CDL A Truck Driver
Detroit Forest Products, Inc.Description Detroit Forest Products, Inc. is a wholesale building materials company serving retail lumber yards and manufacturers from its base in Westland, MI. The CDL A Truck Driver is responsible for safely transporting building materials to and from customer sites, warehouses, and job locations, following all DOT regulations and company safety policies. Day-to-day tasks include performing pre- and post-trip inspections, securing and unloading freight, maintaining accurate delivery documentation, and communicating with dispatch and warehouse staff about schedules and load details. Role is day shift, weekends optional. Company routes are mostly local, though willingness to take one overnight shift per week (in hotel, trucks are all day cabs) would be a major plus. Qualifications Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record and current DOT medical certification. Demonstrated experience operating commercial trucks, preferably with flatbed or other building material hauling experience. Knowledge of DOT regulations, safe driving practices, and proper load securement techniques. Ability to perform vehicle inspections, basic troubleshooting, and routine reporting of maintenance issues. Physical ability to lift, move, and secure straps to secure load. Reliable time management skills and attention to detail for delivery schedules and documentation. Professional communication skills for interacting with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers. High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in building materials or construction delivery is a plus.
