Job Description: WEST HAVEN, CT LOCAL CDL-A Position: Local CDL-A Driver Job Type: Local / Dedicated Hiring Area: Within 40 miles of West Haven, CT 06516 Driver Base: West Haven, CT Home Time: Daily Home Time Equipment: Automatic Day Cab Trailer: 46', 48', 51' or 53' Reefer Schedule: Early morning starts; typically 10–14 hour days Orientation: Paid online orientation PAY & EARNING OPPORTUNITIES Drivers can earn through a combination of mileage and stop pay: Average annual earnings: $85,000 CPM: $0.50–$0.54 per mile NYC borough stops: $30–$31.50 per stop Non-NYC stops: $23–$24.50 per stop Non-liftgate stops: $19–$20.50 per stop Boston deliveries: $30–$31.50 per stop Layover: $100 Detention: $15/hour after the first hour New-hire training: $200/day Holiday pay: $160/day Daily rate: $50 if all scheduled days are worked Safety bonus opportunities available WHAT THE DRIVER WILL DO Drivers start and end their workday at the West Haven, CT yard . The driver will: Pick up fresh and frozen grocery freight from the Westfield, MA facility. Deliver to supermarkets and distribution centers throughout NYC boroughs, Long Island and New Jersey . Expect regular deliveries into New York City boroughs . Make approximately 20–25 stops per week on average . Typically complete one long load per day, with an occasional shorter load if hours allow. Occasionally pick up return product or a backhaul to the distribution center. Support other local accounts when needed. Typical Schedule Drivers generally report to the West Haven yard between 12:00 AM and 1:30 AM . They then travel to the Westfield facility for an approximately 2:00–4:00 AM pickup window before beginning deliveries. Typical workday: 10–14 hours. FREIGHT & DRIVER RESPONSIBILITIES This is a hands-on grocery delivery position . Freight includes frozen products, generally 1–3 pallets per stop . Drivers will use: Electric pallet jack Manual pallet jack Liftgate Drivers may also be required to perform piece-by-piece hand unloading when necessary . Delivery Environment NYC: Most deliveries are curbside. New Jersey: Primarily dock deliveries. Long Island: May be curbside or dock. Driver must be comfortable making frequent stops and handling grocery freight. NYC EXPERIENCE Preferred: At least 3 months of previous driving and delivery experience throughout all NYC boroughs. EQUIPMENT Automatic day cabs Reefer trailers 46', 48', 51' and 53' trailers Trucks cannot be taken home Slip seating is required The account will attempt to keep drivers in the same truck, but there is no guarantee . Drivers should expect to share a truck with a driver working the opposite shift. HOME TIME & TRANSPORTATION Home Daily Drivers start and end their shifts at the West Haven yard . Important: Drivers must have reliable personal transportation to and from work every day. The truck cannot be taken home . DRIVER QUALIFICATIONS Valid CDL-A Local driver can commute to West Haven, CT Lives within approximately 40 miles of West Haven Comfortable with daily early-morning starts Comfortable working 10–14 hour days Comfortable making multiple grocery deliveries Comfortable unloading freight Comfortable using pallet jacks and liftgates Comfortable delivering in NYC Reliable transportation to/from the yard Willing to slip seat Willing to operate a truck that cannot be taken home Strong customer-service skills Preferred Experience 3+ months of NYC borough delivery experience Job Requirements: Valid CDL-A license. Live within a 40-mile radius of West Haven, CT. Reliable personal transportation to and from the yard daily. Comfortable with early morning start times (12:00 AM–1:30 AM).
